The fact that O2 Health Studio celebrated its second anniversary recently proves that fitness has become a way of life for many in the city.

THE SECOND anniversary of O2 Health Studio, affiliated to Reebok International, was rather an event to prove that the fitness fever has caught on among the young and old alike. Sitting on the Reebok aerobics steps in the small hall was quite an experience for some, so much so, an hour's delay did not seem to matter to the crowd.

The event began with students sharing their views about how staying fit with O2 has helped them lead better lives. This was followed by a demonstration by Reebok master trainer, Radha, and Leena, who is also a Reebok-trained instructor. They demonstrated how to use aerobics on the Reebok steps and body toning workout on an unstable platform, to a foot-tapping number.

Geoffrey Vardon of Hot Shoe Dance Company also takes classes at the studio combining dance and aerobics. His students demonstrated `dancercise'. The macho Mr. Tamil Nadu, Venkat, made a special appearance in the dance.

The unique combination of Kalari, a martial art from Kerala, and aerobics is also taught at the studio by Lina. Bharat Thakur, the yoga expert, showed how flexible one can get by practising Yoga, as he balanced the entire weight of his body on his head.

Watching the demonstrations, some members of the audience were inspired to put on their fitness shoes. An added attraction was the weight-lifting competition for the members of the studio.

Actor Sarath Kumar was the chief guest, while actress Suhasini Mani Ratnam and writer Sivasankari were the other celebrities.
