Highlights on August 15
INDEPENDENCE DAY celebrations scheduled in the city will be colourful this year.
The Kerala High Court Advocates' Association is holding a function on the day. School students from several city schools and the members are to present patriotic songs. There will be dances and bands will perform, apart from the traditional flag hoisting and Independence Day message.
Deshabhakthi-sangamam, will he held on the Marine Drive grounds by the Desiya Balatharangam. Film stars Kavya Madhavan, Lal, Deputy Mayor T. J. Vinod and freedom fighters Balagangadhara Menon, C. Ramdas, Ratnakala S. Menon will participate. There will be a band display contest, and the freedom fighters will be honoured. A pledge for national unity will be taken.
At the Chavara Cultural Centre, a patriotic rally will be held. Competitions in National Anthem and patriotic songs will be part of the celebrations.
