Whether passengers should pay for the construction of the international airport at Shamshabad.

Illogical and irrational

NOWADAYS governments have adopted the strategy of collecting `user charges' for everything. When breathing air itself is charged in the form of a fee from walkers in parks, air travel cannot be spared and it is not surprising if government slaps a hefty levy on the users of Begumpet airport for the development of the proposed airport at Shamshabad. This proposal to tax the people is ridiculous, illogical and irrational. If the government has no funds for the development of Shamshabad airport, the World Bank can come to its rescue. But why should the common man be troubled? Government should immediately withdraw such thoughtless proposals to collect levies from public in this fashion. On the part of the passengers, they should skip using the Begumpet airport to avoid such levies. How? It is left to one's common sense.
