Sister act

Carnatic vocalist, Chaarulatha Mani and playback singer, M. Madhumitha, performed at the annual Tamil Convention 2003 held in Orlando, Florida, this week.

WITH TAMIL film music and musicians gaining popularity around the world, young artistes are getting more opportunities to perform on the international stage.

Chaarulatha Mani, Carnatic vocalist, and M. Madhumitha, playback singer of "Lesa Lesa" "Mudhal Mudhalai" fame, were invited by the Tamil Nadu Foundation Inc., U.S.A, to participate and perform at the annual Tamil Convention 2003 held in Orlando, Florida, this week. The Tamil Convention is among the many events organised for the Tamil community in the U.S.

The sisters are recognised as popular stars in their respective fields. At the convention, Chaarulatha presented a concert, Thamizh Isai Kadambam, featuring all-time favourite traditional Tamil songs by famous composers.

Madhumitha's light music show comprised popular Tamil film songs including her own numbers. The sisters will be performing at other centres in the United States.
