The Alliance Francaise of Madras is organising a Shadow Puppet Theatre Festival from July 12 to 14, which includes performances by shadow puppeteers and a documentary film on them.

AS PART of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Alliance Francaise of Madras in coordination with R. V. Ramani,is organising a Shadow Puppet Theatre Festival,"Nee Engey",from July 12 to 14.
The festival will present some of the best shadow puppeteers and their performances over a period of three days. "Nee Engey", a documentary film on the shadow puppeteers, will be screened on July 12, 6 p.m., and again on July 13, 10 a.m. at the Alliance Francaise Auditorium on College Road. This 150-minute-long film, photographed, directed and produced by R. V. Ramani, is a celebration of the art of moving images, its original practitioners and community. Along with the screening of the film, the shadow puppeteers will also perform and interact with the gathering. The performances will take place on July 13 from 2 p.m. at the Alliance Francaise Auditorium, and on July 14 from 9 a.m. at the Book Point Auditorium, Anna Salai, opp. Spencers Plaza.
