JEWELLERY MAKES the most beautiful creation of God more beautiful - the presence of ornaments has been primal, the whens and wheres are hard to trace out from the history we know.
To meet the modern day needs of urban women, Dwarka's Jewellers recently launched `Spandan' at the Inter Continental the Grand in New Delhi. Mahima Chowdhry made a special appearance on the occasion. There are blends of diamonds and precious, semi-precious gems in the Spandan collection. The jewellery also fuses the Indian and Western approach. Pricing of Spandan is between Rs.5000 and 60,000, which is economical for the urban population targeted by the company.
Dwarka's officials say: "With the kind of price range we are offering, diamonds can be seen on more regular occasions rather than special ones, and as the name Spandan means beat, the jewellery will be something closer to the heart of women."
When been asked about how the fusion of diamonds and gems can make a difference, they replied: "The jewellery will bring out a new classicism in women and the way they select their ornaments. We believe this kind of jewellery can be tried on the traditional Indian as well as the Western dresses. The ornaments have been created in such a way, they can be easily carried on any kinds of dresses."
Mahima attracted the attention of the gathering, as she tried some specials of the Spandan collection and had a lot to say about it. "I am a normal girl and it is very natural for me to love jewellery. What I like best about the jewellery is, it can be tried on various kinds of dresses - specifically the Western wear, jeans and ethnic Indian. The colours of the gems are special - rarely do you see combinations like these."
The media people present on the occasion wanted to speak about her films, but she was reluctant to oblige them. She did speak about her guest role in "Saaya" though. "It is a surprise appearance, a very short role in the movie, for which you can wait and watch."
