Pick two books, get another free

Penguin India has a unique anniversary offer lined up. Pick up any three from its 105 shortlisted titles and get the book priced the lowest absolutely free.

PENGUIN BOOKS India is celebrating its 15th year in the country with the `10,000 Club offer'.

Under the scheme, readers can pick three of the 105 Penguin titles and get the book costing the least of the three absolutely free.

All titles (still in print) that have sold over 10,000 copies since publication in Indian editions up to March this year are part of the `10,000 club'. All titles have a distinctive `10,000 club' gold sticker that runs across the front and spine of each book.

In the city, the Penguin publications are available at leading bookstores such as DC Books, Paico, Prabhus and Modern Book Centre.

Arundhati Roy, Romila Thapar, Shashi Tharoor, Shobhaa De, Khushwant Singh, David Davidar and Anita Nair are some of the Indian writers whose works are included in the offer.

Romila Thapar's `Penguin History of Early India: From the origins to AD 1300' has been so popular that the first lot has been completely sold out in DC Books.

The 2002 Booker Prize-winning `Life of Pi' by Yann Martel, which traces the travails of Pi Patel on his journey from Pondicherry to Cananda along with his family and some animals on a cargo ship is also a popular buy. The revised version of `Algebra of Infinite Justice', by Arundhati Roy, a collection of political essays written by the author of `The God of Small Things' till 2002, is also among the fast moving books.

So is `Chasing the Monsoon', Alexander Frater's delightful and unusual account of the pursuit of the Indian monsoon. `Ignited Minds: Unleashing the Power within India', the book by Indian President, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, and `Ladies Coupe' by Anita Nair, a book that looks into the lives of Akhila and five other women whom she meets in a train compartment, are also being picked up fast.
