Silver screen impressions...

AS THE moving picture speaks... characters and their attire cast a magic of there own, on the audience. Inspired by this phenomenon, Babita's, a boutique run by Babita Sharma at West Punjabi Bagh has come out with new spring-summer collection of bridal and casual wear.

The bridal ensemble is traditionally crafted with a contemporary touch. It comprises lehengas, saris and suits. Apart from the insignia colour red for a bride, Babita has used shades of green, peach, magenta and purple. The bridal trousseau is accentuated with swarowski, antique zardozi, kundan, dabka, sippi and coloured stones. Flowing fabrics like crepes, georgettes, bandhej and tie-n-dye have been used to complement the embroidery and designs. The saris and lehengas have been embellished with tissue, network and sequence and teamed up with elegant cholis in halter, spaghetti and fish neck cuts.

"I design antique zardozi, the weaving is done at my workshop in Calcutta by master craftsmen. A taste pattern acceptable to different kinds of people is kept in mind while designing. My creations have been inspired from old Hindi films like `Pakeezah', `Mughal-e-Azam' to name a few," claims Babita.

Cotton, voil and organdie suits are available in pastel and bright colours. The casual wear in soft colours comprises short kurtis in cotton, chiffon, georgette and voil. Mirror and zardozi work, booti or small uniform designs have been embroidered to enhance the colour and style of the design. The kurtis represent Indo-Western fusion clothing, as frills have been harmonised with thread work and sequences. Chic necklines and unique designing is an added attraction.

The casual and semi-formal range is priced between Rs.1000 and 4000 while the formal wear starts from Rs.4000.

Picture yourself in a design out of a reel picture. Hear, Babita calling?
