Providing individual attention

SCHOOL, SPORTS, quizzes, games, friends, TV — distractions are many for kids today, but there's nothing to replace personal care. Individual attention from parents or teachers is what really helps the all-round development of the child. But parents and teachers don't always have time to spend with a child. And to tackle this problem is the Renaissance Foundation that concerns itself with the well-being of children, helping them to recognise their talent and unleash hidden potential.

The Renaissance Foundation is a non-governmental organisation, which provides assistance to students aged between 6 and 12. They've formulated a programme called MASH (Making All-round Success a Habit) to increase academic performance by fostering stress-free atmosphere in school. The interactive methods are based on a three-way communication system involving the parent, child and teacher. The concept behind the MASH programme is that all students are capable of performing well if they plan their work.

MASH is designed to work alongside the existing education system, by covering areas such as time management, planning, introspection, memory enhancement, self-expression and communication, listening and learning skills. This reduces the need for extra coaching as it stimulates the students' inherent abilities, claims the Foundation. Every student receives regular feedback on his or her performance. As part of the activities to make everyday schoolwork interesting, there will be workshops and events and the kids also get to bring out a magazine.

The programme will be made available to individual parents as well as schools. For details contact The Renaissance Foundation at 23745414/ 23746635.
