Rare operations

THE JOURNALISTS were witness to one of the rare operations of the Madurai city police on Monday.

The police, who arrested a 15-member gang involved in a sex racket, seized their mobile phones.

These phones were vital mode of communication.

A constable was trained to attend the phones, and he discharged his duty `meticulously', when it came to using jargons. Many witnesses were surprised that all the five cellular phones kept ringing continuously, and the cop handled them without losing his cool. Every call received meant that one accused was trapped.

Those who came with `dreams' at the `fixed' spots were shocked, when plainclothesmen pounced on them. Least would they have imagined that they would be made to cool their heels behind the bars. One of them was a newly-wed youth.
