Artistic touch
Ooty gets the 'English countryside` look
ART DIRECTORS are likely to go unnoticed, the better they do their job, because people tend to think it's real, says Sabu Cyril, winding up his work for `Lesa Lesa' that is almost complete.
With `Lesa Lesa', Sabu Cyril completes his 28th film with Priyadarshan. ``Yes, that is about half of his films,'' he smiles. The art director came up with a farmhouse set in Ooty, that forms the backdrop for the love story, erected in freezing conditions and over two weeks of work. Coonoor Railway Station was given artistic touches that make it reminiscent of pre-independence days. ``Since we wanted a romantic feel of a hill station, we put up pillars of the old times with plants for a cleaner and greener look,'' Sabu reveals. Sabu also transformed a beach-house near Chennai into a backdrop for a song where the identity of the girl wouldn't be revealed. In three days, the art director put up blocks that gave the location a mystical and an ethereally beautiful feel.
