What exactly is the aim of a personal interview round?

Bhaavya Santanam

Personal interview or HR round aims at verifying whether the candidate is suitable for the organisation. Some areas of assessment include communication skills, character, attitude, and cultural match (whether the candidate can fit into the culture of the organisation).

The first few questions of the round are based on the candidate’s personal information and are posed to make the candidate feel at ease. The remaining questions can be pertaining to his work history, knowledge about current job and company, self-awareness, beliefs, aims and expectations. To answer these questions satisfactorily, one must understand why the interview is posing the specific question, which is not always obvious.
