Befitting musical tribute

A. RAMALINGA SASTRY

Radhika came up with a melodious recital.

Rendering chosen compositions, she sang her way into the hearts of the listeners

Commemorating the 70th birthday of its former president late L.S.R. Krishna Sastry, Visakha Music Academy organised a vocal recital by the recipient of L.S.R.K. Radhika, the winner of the gold m edal for topping the University in M.A. (Music) of AU and the recipient of young talent award and scholarship from the Department of Culture, Govt. of India, astonishingly exploited the melody in her voice to the hilt.

Her repertoire for the evening comprised Sriraga varnam, Kanjadalayathakshi of Dixitar (Kamalamanohari) with brief but beautiful raagaalapana, Endukunirdaya of Thyagaraja (Harikambhoji) embellished with erudite expression of manodharma in aalapana and swaram, Sudhamayi of Mutthai Bhagavatar (Amrithavarshini), expansive expatiation of Anudinamunu of Ramnad Srinivasayyangar (Begada), scholarly execution of a similar exercise rendering Yemeechesithenemi of Thyagaraja (Todi), a Tarangam in Bilhari and a Javali in Khamas, M. Neeladri Rao from Vizianagaram on violin and local artiste S. Subrahmanyam on mridangam rendering conformable accompaniment and scholarly manodharma contributed splendour.
