Sreepoornima.
Fulfilling its objective of encouraging young talent, Visakha Music and Dance Academy provided a platform to two young artistes.
One was a flautist in the making Eemani Sreepoornima and the other was the exponent of carnatic music on mandolin, Gatti Satyasagar of Pithapuram.
Both of them, including the accompanists, Ramacharan on violin and P.V. Meher Sagar on mridangam presented a picture of confidence.
Satyasagar.
Starting with Khambhoji varnam, Poornima with the needed vigour and swiftness in articulating her finger ends on the holes of the flute, proved to be good in evolving the Thu and the Thuttukaaram like professionals. She went on to play impressively Vinayaka with some aalapana and swaram, Sobhillu Saptaswara (Jaganmohini) with swaram, brief but brave enough elaboration of Neevalla Gunadoshamemi (Kapi) and Upacharamuchesevaarunnarani (Bhairavi) playing Annamayya’s Naarayanathe Namonamo in Behag as well.
Sagar’s intense love for the sublime classicism ordained in carnatic music and the versatile adaptability of mandolin in surfacing it besides the ardency with which he has been learning the art from the renowned mandolin duo U.P. Raju and U. Nagamani going to Chennai twice or thrice every month, is manifested in his recital. Sriraga Pancharatna kriti. Ramcharan and Meher Sagar rendered good support.
