For values' sake
There was excellent response for
the cultural competitions conducted
by the Vijayawada chapter
of ISKCON. The
competitions were held to inculcate
and encourage various cultural aspects
among children and college
goers. A very large number of schoolchildren
and aspiring youngsters took
part in the event showing abundant
talent in dance, music, dance dramas,
mono action, national songs etc. The
venue was S. V. S. Kalyana Mantapam.
It was heartening to see as many as
200 children competed and many
parents of the competitors also attended,
enjoying the colourful event.
Ram Murari Das, co-ordinator of
ISKCON cultural programmes, said
Indian culture teaches that every task
should be done in dedication to the
Lord. Programmes of this kind were
conducted by ISKCON to educate the
youngsters in moral, cultural and
spiritual values. The programme was
titled Raga.
The winners in the competitions
were awarded prizes. K. Sasidhar and
M. Vijayakumar, staff members of G.
V. R. Government College of Music
and Dance, Vijayawada, acted as judges
for the musical events.
