The performance of Angara Srividya, disciple of Yeleswarapu Vijayavalli, last week under the aegis of Golden Star Youth Cultural organization and Thyagaraya Gana Sabha at sabha’s auditorium was well received and one wished that she had taken s ome more intricate numbers.

Her guru Vijayavalli’s rendition of the kirtanas and jatis were well translated into Nritya and Abhinaya by Srividya, who had an expressive countenance mobile enough to portray any mood vividly. Foot work in different jathi patterns was perfect.

Particularly in Sambho Mahadeva in Roopaka talam where she presented many sancharies with clarity.

Jagadananda Taraka (Natai) was pleasing. This was preceded by a slokam.

Then she presented a Sarangapani Padam Sogasugaada, a romantic piece in Sahana and Misrachapu talam. A composition of Ramadasu — Palayamam in Yamuna Kalyani figured next but she presented only two charanas and then rushed to present the concluding number Jaya Jaya Durge, also a Tarangam in Shanmukhapriya. This piece was also preceded by a sloka.

Iruganti Madhavi Latha lent a supporting voice to Vijayavalli.

Vasudevamurthy lent support on mridangam. P. Bharadwaj on violin, Murali on flute added their mite to the orchestral appeal.
