Case against weekly editor

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE JUNE 12. The High Grounds Police have taken up a criminal case against Ravi Belagere, Editor of the Kannada weekly, "Hai Bangalore'', for allegedly threatening to "kill" Tejaswini, Chief Reporter of the "Udaya TV" on Wednesday.

Ms. Tejaswini has alleged in a complaint that Mr. Belagere telephoned her at her office at 3.30 p.m. on that day and abused her before threatening to kill her.

Police have registered a case against Mr. Belagere under Sections 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. A FIR has been filed.

On whether Mr. Belagere had been arrested, police said they were investigating the charge levelled against him.

Ms. Tejaswini and Mr. Belagere are not in good terms. Mr. Belagere has published a few articles against Ms. Tejaswini in his weekly over the years. After Mr. Belagere opened fire at an alleged cheat in Harapanhalli in Davangere District recently, "Udaya TV" reported the incident, which irked him. Subsequently, Mr. Belagere carried an article against "Udaya TV" and Ms. Tejaswini in his weekly.
