The students, if need be, should apply for revaluation within three days of the receipt of the copies, so that the department would revalue the answersheets and, if required provide the revised mark certificates well ahead of the start of counselling for professional and higher education courses. According to Directorate officials, 2,795 candidates applied for photocopies of Physics answersheets, 3,335 for Chemistry, 6,256 for Mathematics, 2,570 for Biology, 63 for Botany and 79 for Zoology. Last year over 24,000 candidates applied for photocopies, that too for only the first four subjects. Only this year were Zoology and Botany script copies given to the candidates. Revaluation would be completed within three or four days and the mark certificates, if required, amended. To ensure total compliance, the department officials would send telegrams individually, asking the applicants to come to Chennai bringing with them the original mark certificates. The students should tender the old mark-sheets and only then would the revised certificates given. All the procedures would be completed by June 26. "We will also keep the Anna University informed of the mark changes wherever applicable, so that the rank list could also be suitably amended," said a senior official.
