Tamil Nadu
By Our Special Correspondent
Dr. Ramadoss had asked Ms. Sonia Gandhi to persuade the Karnataka Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, to release water for Tamil Nadu. In a statement, Mr. Mani noted that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, too had made a similar plea to Ms. Gandhi asking her to intervene and settle a river water dispute between that State and Karnataka. The Andhra Pradesh PCC leader had not objected to this nor did he consider the request as unusual. ``Will not Mr. Elangovan's objection to a plea for the Congress president's intervention tantamount to justifying Karnataka's refusal to comply with legal orders,'' Mr. Mani asked. Last year he and PMK leaders had met Mr. Krishna in Bangalore and requested him to release water to Tamil Nadu, Mr. Mani said. Following this, Mr. Elangovan had also met Mr. Krishna with a similar plea.
