Mayawati's claim draws flak

Lucknow June 12. The Opposition in Uttar Pradesh today took strong exception to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati's reported remarks that she had the support of the 24 Samajwadi Party MLAs and demanded that she convene the "Vidhan Sabha" to prove her claim.

Talking to UNI, the Samajwadi Party state-unit president, Ram Sharan Das, said Ms. Mayawati's reported remarks only showed her fears. ``She is worried about the integrity of her flock, therefore, she is attempting to divert attention.''
