Coalition troops were able to recover its uninjured two-member crew almost immediately and secure the crash site, said the statement released by the U.S. Central Command.
Combined sweep
Meanwhile, a combined sweep, dubbed ``Operation Peninsula Strike,'' continued for a third day, sending thousands of American troops through a region of several square kilometres centred on the Tigris river town of Duluiyah 70 km north of Baghdad, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, Lt. Ryan Fitzgerald, said. Ground troops were backed up by fighter jets, attack helicopters and unmanned aerial drones during the operation in which about 400 people were captured. Lt. Fitzgerald said he had no information on the capture of wanted Ba'athists from the list of top 55 fugitives, which includes Saddam Hussein and his two sons. AP
