The packages offered are for a cross-section of domestic tourists which includes children, couples and those wanting to let loose their spirits in the clean and green environs of the Himalayan region. According to Suman Sharma, Chief Manager (Tourism), already the response to the packages has been excellent and the tie-ups include far-off places like Goa also. Stating that the effort has been to offer the best rates suiting the pockets of all categories of tourists, Mr. Sharma said some other tie-ups were also in the offing . With many schools announcing their closure from this week, the tourist rush is expected to grow tremendously. The "Discover India'' packages have been drawn up with the idea to provide various options to Delhiites and those from the adjoining regions to spend their vacations alone or along with their children in the cool environs. In fact, special student group packages have also been offered and a number of Delhi schools have already lapped them up and are sending groups to places like Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal. The "Discover India'' offers fascinating experience for those also looking for a pilgrimage. The Delhi Tourism has prepared a five-day package tour to Badrinath adding three more days if the tourists are interested in going to Kedarnath also. Under this package, Mr.Sharma said religious places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Gaurikund, Srinagar would be covered. The Delhi Tourism has tied-up with the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation and some private hotels to ensure a comfortable stay for those opting for the various packages in the hill sector. On the offer is the Shimla-Manali-Chandigarh week- long package. Then there is the nine-day option of Shimla-Manali- Dharamsala-Dhalhousie which is an exhaustive tour and covers various parts of the hill State. Mr.Sharma said under the package tour for students, arrangements had been made for adventure sports like para-gliding, trekking and mountain climbing. In addition to this, students would also be put up in tented accommodation and given the option of camping at interesting places as part of the offer to promote adventure- related options. He said depending upon the response, some other packages and destinations could also be included as part of the package tours. The best part about the whole deal was that the involvement of the Delhi Tourism ensured that tourists got the best of accommodation and facilities wherever they land. He also disclosed that the Delhi Tourism had also one of the most exciting jeep safari package lined up for those wanting to discover Ladakh.
