Marad: more arrested

KOZHIKODE MAY. 10. The Crime Branch Special Investigation Team (SIT) today arrested six more persons, taking the total number of arrests made in connection with the communal carnage at Marad to 58.

The arrested are P. P.Salim (29), P. Saidalavi (23), T. P. Jefrilas (22), T. P.Mustafa (28), P. P. Latheef (22) and K. Rafi (32). Thay are said to be supporters of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), who allegedly have close links with the National Development Front (NDF).

The Crime Branch Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID), Superintendent of Police, T.V. Kamalakshan, and his team arrested the accused from various places at Marad.

The City Police Commissioner, T. K.Vinod Kumar, led the search operations at Chaliyam and Marad and the Superintendent of Police (Kozhikode - Rural), T. Vikram, led the raids in the rural areas of Kozhikode.
