By Our Staff Reporter
Police said three persons came to the G.R.Thanga Maligai jewellery shop on South Usman Road around 12-15 p.m. They went to the diamond section and under the pretext of buying rings, quietly removed the jewellery and managed to give the shop staff the slip, said the police. When contacted, the GRT authorities said that they had taken up the re-installation work of closed circuit television (CCTV) sets, which could have provided vital evidence to identify the suspects. Due to the replacement work, the CCTVs were not operational at the shop for the past one week which the thieves had got wind of. A case has been registered with Mambalam police and further investigation is on.
