Short-circuit likely cause of Lajpat Nagar fire

NEW DELHI APRIL 14. A fire broke out in a ready-made garment shop at Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi yesterday. Nobody was injured in the incident.

According to the police, the incident occurred in ready-made garment shop located at D-27, Phase-II, Lajpat Nagar around 5 p.m.

A fire department spokespersons said at 15 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire. After about three hours of fire-fighting, the blaze was brought under control around 7-45 p.m. A neighbouring shoe-shop was also affected in the incident.

The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the incident. However, short-circuit has not been ruled out. Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Lajpat Nagar police station.
