President greets people

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI APRIL 14. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, has greeted the people on the occasion of Naba Barsha, Puthandu Pirappu, Rongali Bihu and Vishu.

In a message, Dr. Kalam has said: "These festivals symbolise the importance and respect given to hard work in our tradition. The hard work and sweat of our farmers enrich the nation and may their endeavour help in bringing peace and happiness to our country."

The President has also greeted the people on Mahavir Jayanti and hoped that "Mahavira's noble teachings inspire us to work for peace, non-violence and harmony among the people. Let us emulate his preaching of right faith, right knowledge and right conduct, and re-dedicate ourselves to work for the welfare of humanity".
