The statue of B. R. Ambedkar would be erected in front of the State Legislative building before the next Ambedkar Jayanti, the Chief Minister. A. K. Antony, has said. He was inaugurating the Ambedkar jayanti celebrations organised by the district committee of Bharatiya Dalit Congress here on Monday. The benefits being enjoyed by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were the rights once denied to them and none can snatch these rights away or oppress them any further, he said. The Chief Minister said that the low level of representation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the private sector was a matter of concern and needed to be examined seriously. Kavalloor Madhu presided over the meeting. Those who spoke on the occasion included V. S. Sivakumar, MP, K. Mohankumar, MLA, K. V. Padmanabhan, the State president, among others.
