Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By K. Srinivas Reddy
The website www.ipr.ap.gov.in continued to throw up the defaced homepage till late in the evening on Monday indicating that the webmasters were blissfully unaware of the cyber vandalism. The defaced homepage, meant for supplying the latest news originating from Andhra Pradesh, was named APone, standing for Andhra pradesh Online News for Everyone, though its URL was different. The powHACK posted its standard "Access Denied'' message on the homepage. The hacker group had been consistently targeting Indian websites. In addition to the Andhra Pradesh Governemnt site being defaced twice, the group also targeted several other Indian sites in the last two days. Prominent among the defaced sites were of the North East Frontier Railway (nfr.railnet.gov.in), Research Design and Standard Organisation of Lucknow (rdso.gov.in), a site of the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany in Lucknow and another one belonging to Naini University. The powHACK also hacked into a VSNL server with IP address 203.200.167.52, according to websites which monitor the defacements worldwide.
