Davydenko stuns Schalken

OEIRAS (Portugal) APRIL 10. Third-seeded Sjeng Schalken lost 3-6, 2-6 on Wednesday to Russian Nikolay Davydenko and left the Estoril Open without its top three seeds after the first round.

Bhupathi-Mirnyi duo in semifinals

The top-seeded Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi defeated Jarkko Nieminen of Finland and Andrei Stoliarov of Russia 6-2, 6-2 to storm into the semifinals. The Indo-Belarussian combination had to earlier sweat it out to a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Alex Lopez Moron and David Sanchez of Spain in the first round.

The results: Men: Second round: Agustin Calleri bt Jarkko Nieminen 6-3, 6-4; Tommy Robredo bt Harel Levy 6-3, 6-1; Galo Blanco bt John Van Lottum 6-1, 6-3.

Women: Second round: Ludmila Cervanova bt Iveta Benesova 6-3, 6-2; Silvija Talaja bt Rossana Neffa-de los Rios 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. — AP
