Many training camps closed, says Kasuri

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD April 9. The Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has claimed that Pakistan has closed a `lot of training camps' of people being trained for fighting in Kashmir. In an interview to a UN news agency, Integrated Regional Information Network here, Mr. Kasuri said the Government had `stopped' public donations for those fighting for Kashmir and also arrested some of the leaders championing the Kashmir cause.

The observations made by Mr. Kasuri are interesting as it is perhaps for the first time that any one at this level has acknowledged the existence of training camps and donations from the public.

Mr. Kasuri said the Pakistan government had done much by closing down several training camps and stopping public donations for those fighting for Kashmir.
