Ganesan evasive

By Our Staff Reporter

VELLORE March 31. The MDMK presidium chairman, L. Ganesan, today avoided questions on the party's representatives not being invited to Sunday's meeting of the National Democratic Alliance in New Delhi and the counter-affidavit filed by the Centre in the Supreme Court to the effect that its leader, Vaiko's speech at Tirumangalam, near Madurai, in support of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam constituted an act of terrorism.

"We will give our views after consulting `Kalaignar' (DMK president) and studying the developments", he said in reply to repeated questions from presspersons, on his coming out of the central prison here after an hour-long meeting with the general secretary, incarcerated under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Asked whether the decision would be taken jointly by the MDMK and the DMK or in consultation with other Opposition parties as well, Mr. Ganesan said Mr. Karunanidhi was being consulted as he was evincing a special interest in the party affairs after Mr. Vaiko had been arrested. ``If necessary, we will involve other Opposition parties in taking a stand on the current developments, after consulting `Kalaignar'.

Mr. Ganesan said he and Gingee Ramachandran, party deputy general secretary and Union Minister of State for Finance and Company Affairs, had discussed with Mr. Vaiko the "current political developments".
