This is not the first time the girl has been attacked by the same youth who has been absconding since morning. Jones, a neighbour of Zeena Kumari had nursed a grudge against her on personal grounds. On January 14, when Ms. Zeena was about to board a bus in her village, Jones threw bleaching powder on her face and fled. The girl suffered minor injuries and underwent treatment at the Kottar Government Medical College Hospital. Since then Jones had gone underground and today he flung acid on her and escaped. College students noticing Ms. Zeena and her friend Laura, who too suffered burns; writhing in pain, admitted them to a private hospital. This is the second incident of acid attack on girl students in the district in the last couple of years. About two years ago, two youth flung acid on the teenaged sisters in Thuckalay police limits near here and fled. Both the sisters suffered ordeal and had to relocate to Nagercoil to forget the incident.
