Federal Bank employees strike work

KANNUR MARCH 31. The functioning of the Federal Bank here was hit by the strike by a section of the employees in response to a strike call by the Federal Bank Employees' Union (FBEU) affiliated to the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) demanding, among other things, fresh recruitment in the bank, termination of the contract and out-sourcing system, regularisation of temporary staff and sanctioning of transfers.

A press release of the union here said the Federal Bank could not participate in the clearing houses in the area. Striking employees staged demonstration and held meetings at Kannur, Thalassery, Payyannur, Taliparamba and other places.

The AIBEA district secretary, A.C.Madhavan, and the FBEU assistant secretary, V.T. Sakaria, spoke.

The functioning of Federal Bank branches in different parts of the State was affected by the strike.
