We never left party, says rebel BJP leader

By J.P. Shukla

LUCKNOW Jan. 5. Dissidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh seems to have come to an end today, with most of the rebels announcing that they would return to the party fold.

Dissident leader and convener of the ``BJP bachao samiti'' (save BJP committee), Ganga Bhakt Singh, said today that they had no complaints against the leadership which had sorted out all the issues.

The BJP Legislature Party leader and State Urban Development Minister, Lalji Tandon, was present at Mr. Singh's residence when the latter told newspersons that he had never left the party. He took objection to the media's description of the BJP MLAs as the rebels, and denied having made any disparaging remarks about Mr. Tandon.Echoing Mr. Singh's sentiments, Mr. Tandon said he was ``overjoyed'' that dissidence had ended. He hinted that there might be another expansion of the Mayawati Ministry soon to take care of the MLAs' demand for ministerial posts.
