BJP leader shot dead

VARANASI DEC.17. In a suspected gang war, a local BJP leader, Anil Rai, and three others, including his security guard, were shot dead by some motor-cycle borne assailants in broad day-light at a busy junction here this morning.

Others killed along with Mr. Rai were his security guard, Chandrama Singh, private gunner Munna Rai and an official of the State Construction Corporation , Shailendra Singh, sources said.

The assailants intercepted Mr. Rai's car at the Maldahia crossing under the Sigra police station limit and started firing with AK-47 rifleskilling them on the spot and injuring two others. . — PTI
