Jharkhand seeks Malaysian expertise

RANCHI DEC. 17. Jharkhand has sought Malaysian expertise in town planning and development of its infrastructural facilities, including roads and bridges.

Official sources here said an understanding in this regard was reached at a meeting between the Jharkhand Chief Minister, Babulal Marandi, and the Malaysia's Construction Minister, Vellu, at Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The officials said a team from Malaysia would visit Jharkhand on December 23 for this purpose. Mr Vellu is likely to visit the State next month, they added.

Mr Marandi, who is on an official trip to Malaysia, visited a new township under construction, popularly known as ``intelligence city'', 25 km from Kuala Lumpur, and was impressed with its planning.

According to sources, the Chief Minister was planning to make it a model for the new capital of Jharkhand, 15 km from Ranchi.

Mr Marandi also held business sessions with industrialists and received a positive response. UNI
