President's nod for Library Bill

New Delhi Dec.17. The President, A.P. J. Abdul Kalam, has given his assent to the Imperial Library (Indentures Validation) Bill 2002, which comes into force with immediate effect.

With this, the Bill as passed during the ongoing winter session of Parliament has been notified in the Gazette of India.

The Imperial Library (Indentures Validation) Act 2002 seeks to repeal the Imperial Library (Indentures Validation) Act 1902. This follows recommendation of the P.C. Jain Commission on Administrative Law Reforms suggesting repealing of the antiquated act, according to an official release.
