Furore in Assembly

By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR DEC. 17. The presence of three officials of the U.S. power major, AES Corporation, in the officers' gallery of the Orissa Assembly sparked a furore today with the Opposition demanding the resignation of the Energy Minister, Suryanarayan Patra.

As the AES was being criticised by legislators of almost all the political parties for ``deliberately generating less power'' at the Banharpalli plant, the presence of the officials angered the MLAs.

The Opposition members rushed to the well repeatedly and stalled the proceedings.

The House was adjourned five times before the Speaker, Sarat Kumar Kar, adjourned it till tomorrow.
