Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Special Correspondent
In deference to this move, the faction called off the indefinite fast by church leaders at Kollencherry demanding judicious steps to settle the ongoing feud in the Malankara church. The decision was announced by the supreme head of the Patriarch faction, Catholicos Baselios Thomas I, at a press conference here today. The hunger stir was called off in response to the appeal of the Government and the KPCC sub-committee to discuss issues. He said that the patriarch faction welcomed the efforts and would extend all cooperation. He said that he was of the view that the Supreme Court on the issue should be strictly implemented. He claimed that 65 per cent of the believers in the Malankara Church belonged to the patriarch faction.
