The Chief Minister, A. K. Antony, told presspersons that the Cabinet had recommended the convening of the Assembly to the Governor. The session would last nearly three months. A special meeting of the Cabinet will be held on January 10 to discuss law reforms. Asked about the Opposition demand for convening a session earlier for discussion of the loan agreements with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Chief Minister said all matters, including the loan issue, could be discussed during the session. The details of the loan agreements would be released only after the ADB Director Board approved it. The Board is meeting on December 16, and the agreement would not be signed on that day. He parried questions on whether the details would be released before the signing of the agreement and whether the terms could be modified after signing it.
