Former Vizag DCP shot dead

VISAKHAPATNAM DEC. 11. A retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Potha Reddy (66), was shot dead by unidentified persons at his residence in Visalakshinagar on Wednesday evening.

The police suspect the hand of naxalites in the killing as Mr. Potha Reddy played a major role in curbing their activities in the agency area while serving as the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Narsipatnam in the district.

After retirement, he was staying in the CISF quarters near the Harbour area as it provided him adequate protection, but a few years ago he moved to a house in Visalakshinagar.
