New Delhi
By Our Staff Reporter
According to the police, they received call from a house at R-Block in Raghuvir Nagar saying that a woman and her children have been killed and that their bodies were lying covered. When the police reached the spot, they found only the body of a woman, identified as Urmila Khandelwal, wife of Prakash Khandelwal, a builder, lying in a room on the first floor. The body bore stab injuries on the back, chest and arms. Initially, her two children, son aged 17, a student of Class X, and daughter 19, a first year student of Delhi University, told the police that they heard some noise and saw a "shadow'' cross the grill on the first floor. However, investigations revealed that it was not possible to escape through the grill as it was locked from inside. During investigations, the police found some freshly washed clothes belonging to the boy which had blood stains on them. Some blood stains were also found on the clothes he was wearing. Following contradictions in the statements of Prakash and his daughter, the police confronted them with material evidence. While the son confessed to have killed his mother, his sister and father were charged with misleading the police. The accused told the police that right since childhood he, his sister and younger brother used to sleep in the same room, while their parents slept in the other. The children were provided a television with cable connection. The children grew up watching sexually explicit programmes beamed on television. During this period, the boy and her sister developed an incestuous relationship. The younger brother, apparently told his mother about their affair. In the wee hours of Sunday, Urmila barged into the room of the children and was shocked to find them in a compromising position. Urmila shouted at them and warned of strict action before retiring to her room. In the meantime, her son, apparently enraged over his mother's intrusion into his privacy, picked up a knife and followed her into the room and stabbed her in the back. She fell on the bed following which her son stabbed her in the chest and arms.
