District magistrates have been asked to initiate action for closing down polluting units, as the monitoring conducted in the area revealed that the units have not fully installed pollution control devices, a spokesman of Board said. All such units have been directed to install pollution control devices to meet the prescribed standards, the spokesman added. Residents of Khrew and Khonmoh, who claim to have suffered health problems because of pollution from the cement factories, today held the protest demonstration to invite attention of the authorities. Police has been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order, official sources said. -- PTI
