Delivering the ninth S. Ananda Ramamurthy memorial lecture at V.R. College here on Wednesday organised by the SAR Foundation under the aegis of the Physics Department, Prof. Rao, who spoke on `astronomy and man,' said man always keenly observe the movement of stars and utilise the same for auspicious occasions. During ancient times, there was no distinction between astronomy and astrology, but later, they were recognised separate disciplines. Prof. Rao, who is also the Director of Rangapur Observatory, lauded the faculty for organising the lecture. He presented SAR memorial scholarships and certificates to P. Srinivasulu and M. Swethasandhya, final year B.Sc students. D. Gopalakrishna Murthy, officer on special duty, V.R. Institutions, said that the Physics Department had already conducted two refresher courses for teachers which was a unique honour for the institution. The third refresher course was in the offing, he said. S.V. Krishna Reddy, principal, advised students to respect teachers and give a serious thought to learning and knowledge.
