Top U.S. military official arrives
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI
DEC. 9.
The Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command (Pascom), Thomas B. Fargo, arrived here today on his first visit to the country as part of his efforts to familiarise himself with the political and military landscape in South Asia. The aim of his interaction, including a possible one with the National Security Adviser, Brajesh Mishra, is to "learn and listen,'' according to officials.
Admiral Fargo arrives a week after the U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser, Stephen Hadley, held parleys with top officials on the security situation in the neighbourhood. By the time he leaves, Senator Sam Brown representing the U.S. Congress, will be here to move forward the bilateral talks on several issues.
