Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
The new centre was inaugurated on Sunday. Speaking to presspersons here, M.P.Chary, Chairman, Elbit Diagnostics, said Elbit was the only centre in Karnataka, among stand-alone diagnostic centres, to provide this state-of the art facility. Other hospitals which had 1.5 Tesla MRI system here were Sri Sathya Hospital and National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS). Radesh, radiologist, said this MRI was the best non-invasive modality for evaluation of heart and blood vessels. Through this, most of the heart problems could be diagnosed without the need of arterial puncture, catherisation, and usage of iodinated contrast. Brain imaging could also done with this system to differentiate healthy portions of the brain from the pathological ones, which is not possible with the routine imaging techniques and scanners. Imaging of the abdomen, which was considered the most difficult part, was easier with the new MRI system. The superior image quality makes diagnosis of the difficult lesion easier and leads to better patient management, he said. He said that a routine brain MRI examination could be completed in less than 10 minutes. 0Mr. Chary said that Elbit proposed to open two new diagnostic centres in Pune and Ahmedabad.
