Naxal killed in encounter

VIZIANAGARAM DEC. 9. A naxalite of the People's War was killed in an exchange of fire with a special police party between Kedaripuram and Vangara under Elwinpeta police station limits in G.L.Puram mandal in the Agency region in the early hours of Monday.

According to official information, extremists, said to be of the local guerrilla squad (Gotta dalam), opened fire on a special police party combing the area. The search party returned the fire. After the firing from extremists stopped, the police found the body of an unidentified 25-year-old naxalite in olive green uniform.

The search party recovered a tapancha and few live rounds from his possession. A book containing details of raids conducted in Orissa was also found nearby him.
