Mufti seeks Centre's help

By Our Staff Reporter

Vijaypur(Jammu) Dec. 9. The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today sought the wholehearted support of the Centre to tackle the Kashmir situation effectively and said there was no room for misunderstanding between the Centre and the State on this vital issue. Addressing a large gathering in Vijaypur, he said "the Centre appreciates the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir and all the parties should rise above partisan politics and extend a helping hand in meeting the challenges that are manifold''. He expected straight-forwardness in the Centre's approach while observing, "If we are treading the right path, let us join together to achieve the objective." Dwelling on the miseries of the border people, the Mufti said the Centre had agreed to provide funds for construction of safe dwelling units from Hiranagar to Chaamb. The scheme envisaged allotment of plots and financial assistance for constructing the shelters.

The Mufti handed over appointment letters to the families of soldiers who died in various operations. "Nothing in the world can compensate the human loss but a humble effort to provide some respite to the survivors is what we can do," he said .
