It would also add three more flights to Chennai from April 1, using a Boeing 747. These flights, "on a permanent basis,'' would be under the bilateral air services agreement between the two countries. Lufthansa would now operate nine flights a week to/from Southern India, including three flights to Chennai and six to Bangalore, thus enhancing the capacity to meet the increasing air traffic demand during the peak season. The airline would operate the Airbus A340/300 aircraft on the Bangalore-Frankfurt route, with a three-class configuration, offering eight seats in the first class, 42 in business class and 197 seats in the economy class. The flights to Bangalore would now be operated on six days a week (except Friday to Bangalore and Saturday from Bangalore). "We are delighted to be the only airline in the country to be given the go-ahead under the `open skies policy.' With this directive in hand, Lufthansa will now provide three additional flights linking Bangalore with its hub in Frankfurt and beyond,'' said Harald Hahn, the airline's General Manager for South Asia.
