By Our Staff Correspondent

MYSORE DEC. 8. While efforts are being made to bring the body of the former Minister, H. Nagappa, to Ramapura, police officials have confirmed that Mr. Nagappa had been shot dead.

An official of the STF told The Hindu that Mr. Nagappa was shot at point-blank range on the chest, and that the exact cause and time of his death could be ascertained after the autopsy was conducted. In the absence of a forensic science expert in Chamarajanagar district, an expert from Mysore is on his way to conduct the post-mortem. Officials said the body was in a highly decomposed state.

The body is expected to reach Mr. Nagappa's home at Kamagere by around 10 a.m. after the formalities are completed. The government has already announced that a state funeral would be given to the deceased.
